Default When did 2ndary Warriors start loosing out?

Hi, my main is a lvl 15 N/W.

Now i've got a sword that does 12-16 damage, and i have 9 in Swordsmanship.

Why then am i hitting things for around 10-16 damage?

Other warriors hit for 25+ consistantly.

I understand strengh comes into play, but my friend whos a level 15 W/N has NO POINTS at all in Str, yet hits for more than me with his 11-16 sword (1 min damage).

Why the disparagy?

As a 2ndary warrior, do i automaticaly take a back seat to damage just on the basis i'm 2ndary warrior?

Please help me to understand, as i love this game

Thanks for any help and clarifications in advance.

Do u have elemental fire/cold/lightning damage on your sword?

For example using an Icy Axe is easily going to half your damage vs cold resistant monsters like for example those found in the snowy mountain areas around Yak's Bend.

On the other hand that same Icy weapon is going to do near double damage vs fire mobs.

Warriors have the strength atribute. Each % invested in Strength adds to armor penetration.

Strength may add some, but I'm a Warrior without strength and I still hit for around 30.

The way Swordsmanship/Axe/Hammer works is that at level 12, you hit for 100% of you weapon's damage. Theres a formula for this somewhere, but basically, if you under 12 you hit for less than 100%, or over 12 more than 100%. If you are at 9 Swordsmanship then you don't hit for 100%. Probably more like 80%. Boost your Swordsmanship to 12 and you will be hitting for full.

I'm pretty sure this works with Marksmanship as well.

My sword is standard to answer the above question, no elemental enchantments on it whatsoever.

And to Walder, are you saying i need 12 poinst in swordsmanship to hit for 12-16 damage, which is the damage rang of my sword?

My friend hits for more than that, yet his skill isnt at 20 :P

I guess armor has to come into account at well. It's just that, a fire elemental fireblasts things for around 40 damage at skill 12, costing 5 energy which replenishes before he's ready to insta cast the next fire blast projectile.

Default Check the guides fior details

Someone actually posted a good guide indicating what your damage % will be by skill level. Essencially, you need a 12 skill to do 100% damage. Anything less will be a reduced amount, even though you meet the weapon requirement (i.e if the sword requires 7, thats all well and good, but you will not do full damage with it until you have a skill of 12)

Also, if a mob has armor you will see a reduced damage amount. Armor piercing skills and mods should help mitigate some of the reduction.

Dont warriors (as a main) already get a strenth bonus to thier Dmg? Isnt that the advantage of taking it as a primary? Just a thought but thats how I thought it worked.

Strength only gives AP when using attack skills.

Get fire damage and you will see a huge improvement in damage output. I have a ranger with a max damage shocking, sundering, ice, fire and vampiric bow. The fire bow lands for a considerable amount more damage than the other bows in about 90% of the fights. I am sure there are monsters where the shocking or standard bow does more (even against fire imps the fire bow does more), but I haven't found them yet. I can only assume the fighter's dragon sword is the same way.

Also make sure your swordsmanship is as high as the required on the sword.

Maybe there is sometype of balance between primaries and secondaries? Like a secondary will not be just as powerful as having it as a primary? My husbands secondary elemental does less base damage with firestorm then my primary elemental with our fire attributes set to 0. Maybe its the same with everything else?

attacks dont do 100% damage until your weapon attribute is at 12

and the reason spells do different damage is because level plays a role in damage. at lvl 20 your base damage for a 0 attribute spell is higher than a lvl 10 wiht like 3 or 4 ( i think, i know with both at 0 you would do conciderably more)
